Valentine’s day inspired post – The charm of Bali

Did you know that Valentine’s day is for everyone? Don’t feel sad if you are single right now, it really does not matter. You are still loved – by your family, by your friends, by your children, by yourself… The most important thing – to be loved by yourself! Feel free to buy a small present for yourself today, because you are the best. It could be very tasty piece of cake or a new lipstick or something more valuable, like a holiday ticket to the country you always dreamed to visit.

If you have read the book or seen the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” with Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem, the  first thing you would imagine in your mind when someone tells “LOVE” is Bali. Although I went to Bali with my husband (it actually was our honeymoon), I think that this is actually the amazing place for solo travellers.

I would suggest you to go straight to Ubud, I found some magic in this place. If you are one of those people who is enjoying to explore different cultures, I am sure you’ll be surprised how the people are living in Ubud and how closed Balinese people are to the traditional way  of living. Their customs and day schedule are the same like centuries ago and this is the charm of this small town in the middle of Bali.

There are a lot of things to do – go to cooking lessons and enjoy the tastes of Balinese cuisine, visit the NEKA museum and explore the sense of Balinese art and  don’t miss Balinese dance performance, this is a very unique experience.

If you stay in Ubud, it is easy to move around and visit different Temples, forests, lakes, rice terraces and other interesting places in Bali. You can feel how the Balinese people are proud of their nature, their culture and you can feel this love, because they are very friendly and welcoming.

I’ve already mentioned the Hollywood movie “Eat, Pray, Love” and it was intentionally done, because this movie helped Bali to attract many tourists and develop the infrastructure on their island. But be realistic – the movie idealising Bali, hiding the problems, one of them – huge traffic jams. Also be prepared that you’ll meet many women who decided to go there with the hope to meet their big love and to repeat the beautiful story of Elizabeth Gilbert. Nevertheless the locals would always help if you decide to visit the places “from the movie”.

It was sad to fly back home, but I took a part of Bali in my heart. I hope I inspired you to visit this great island no matter whether you are single or in a relationship. Be loved!  Cheers!
